DR Filmed at Stonehenge

On Monday members of the Disabled Ramblers were filmed at Stonehenge to help English Heritage promote their properties to the disabled community. One of the two film makers was the archaeologist Julian Richards who you might recognise as the presenter of “Meet the Ancestors”. on BBC2.

Julian & Stuart soon had us relaxed as you can see above and a very enjoyable afternoon was had by us all. Julian specialises in the archaeology of Stonehenge (he has written the guide book to it) and has asked to accompany us on our full ramble planned for next July.

Take a look at Photos for Val’s write-up and more pictures.

Many thanks to Val & English Heritage for hosting this small DR group for filming access difficulties at this impressive monument. It was good to see TV expert Julian Richards & learn so much about the history & present improvements. It will be even more impressive when the new visitor centre is completed & the car park relocated. We look forward to our next visit in 2014 when it should form part of a proper ramble. We understand that the resulting short 3/4 minute film may appear on the English Heritage website around next July.

Thanks must also go to John & Liz who again covered the photography role so well.

I was so sorry to have missed this afternoon of filming, hospital appointment put the lid on it, worse luck. It looked such fun and a chance to be famous!! Super photographs, well done all of you.
