does anyone have any advice about buying a second hand tramper? any do’s and dont’s for someone who has ab no idea about such things!
There are basically 4 models of Tramper which I’ve listed in order of age/production:
Mk1 S1 max speed 8 mph built for speed so not as much torc (pulling power up hills)
Mk1 S1L max speed 4 mph built for torc rather than speed
Mk2 max speed 8 mph built for speed and Beamers reckon for torc too. This model superceeded the Mk1s and is still in production.
3WT the new 3 wheeler, don’t really know much about it. Started production in 2012.
Which are you looking for?
Important question are:
Have the batteries been looked after, i.e. kept on trickle charge when not in use? Because if you need to get new batteries that’s going to be an additional £300+.
How old are the batteries? Normal lifespan is 3-4 years.
When was it last service and has it been regularly serviced?
If you ask for the serial number then you can phone Beamer and they can tell you how old it is.
Hope this helps
thanks elephant, thats very helpful. shirley
