Wisley Ramble

    Wisley 1

Regional Rep . Southern Ramble at Wisley – 20th June 2013

The ramble at RHS Wisley in Surrey was a resounding success.  There were 8 of us on scooters and 4 walkers and in spite of us all going prepared for getting soaked, the weather held and didn’t rain at all, wasn’t sunny but dry is excellent!

I have to admit that I didn’t really fancy going to Wisley but everyone was very keen,  so on the programme it went  – well, how wrong I was  because it is MAGICAL, so much to see and absolutely fascinating the whole day.  From the flower borders, sculptures, lakes, wild woodland, river flowing peacefully around the border of the woodland, rose garden, vegetable garden, excellent restaurants, and not exorbitant either, helpful and friendly staff it was superb.  It seems very natural and not at all commercial.

It is a vast area, all of it beautiful, with plenty of paths to explore and spectacular vistas wherever you look.  If you haven’t been we are hoping to do it again in the Autumn to see the different colours, it will be well worth seeing, so if you can get there do join us – you won’t be disappointed.  Dates to follow for this.  Afterwards, some of us went for a meal by a lovely canalside pub to round off the day.  Even the trip, for me anyway, was good and my trusty satnav took me over the old “Hogsback”,  the A31, and hardly any traffic at all.

Thanks to all who came for making it such fun.
