Hampshire RoamAbility are inviting us to take part in the following ramble (Please note that this is NOT our Mike Longbottom Memorial Ramble)
Thursday 11th July – The Ridgeway, nr Newbury
Join Eileen Scannell who is leading this ramble, for fantastic views along this ancient byway. A circular ramble, lunch is at Lord Wantage’s monument, where there are lovely views of the surrounding countryside. We return through a lovely grassland valley between scenic woods, We should see some Red Kites from the Ridgeway. Cat 3, 9 miles. No facilities, but bushes en route. Meet at 11.00am for 11.30am start. Bring a packed lunch.

Directions:
Park at Bury Lane car park, 1 mile from the A34 just north of Newbury.
Take A34 north to Newbury. Follow A34 (signed Oxford) for about 7 miles from the M4 junction. Turn left at a small junction signed ’The Ridgeway’. This is Bury Lane. Follow for nearly a mile, and park in the car park on the right of the lane. Grid ref SU 479 840, nearest postcode is OX11 0RP, just before you turn off the A34
