    Regional Rep. Southern Region Ramble

Bolderwood to Acres Down  – 18th July 2013.

This was a new route through the New Forest, although the first part was partly known to us, but was over a very varied area of landscape, through lovely wooded areas, thank goodness as the shade was very welcome, and through a ford – sadly,  just a trickle at the moment whereas in the winter this part of the ramble is impassable for us – through open moorland with beautiful views across to the main A31 Bournemouth, then into woods again for our lunch stop and onward to our eagerly awaited Cream Tea at the lovely Acres Down Farm, masses of scones, homemade jam, lashings of cream, cup of tea from a traditional brown china teapot and then after all that another huge slab of cake!  Was very pleasant sitting in the shade under an apple tree, then back through a really super Inclosure, Puckpitts Inc., to Bolderwood and New Forest ice cream.  Some of us went for a meal at the High Corner Inn in the depths of the woods afterwards before the homeward trek.  A super day with lots of laughs and great company.  For any who couldn’t come there is a shorter version on 15th August, different start but same destination – especially for smaller scoots.  Pleased to see anyone who can make it.
