Lancashire Regional Ramble – 10th February 2014
We had an impromptu ramble through to Brockholes Nature Reserve near Preston on what must be the best day of the year so far!
Swollen rivers, heavy rain and frost had made the decision to do the ramble very difficult – We changed earlier plans for Tuesday to Monday and met up in the out-of-town shopping car park.

After a short run through a built up area we were in open country and on the Guild Wheel cycle track which at this part follows the River Ribble – the weather couldn’t have been better. The wide tarmacked surface meant we were able to run along at two abreast pulling in now and then for the odd cyclist. We did a stretch of over 4 miles – 9 miles there and back and saw our first crocuses. Spring is in the air? This is an easy route suitable for most scooters except for the many cattle grids that are along the 21 mile Greenway that surrounds Preston.
Next ramble? Watch the website – We hope to do the Wyre Villages in March – weather permitting.
