THURSDAY 25TH SEPTEMBER 2014. – THE EGRET’S WAY, SOUTHEASE, NR NEWHAVEN, EAST SUSSEX
Earlier in the year we attended the opening of this new bridleway linking Southease to Rodmell in East Sussex. It is a newly surfaced pathway alongside the River Ouse which is meant for a cycle way and suitable for horses, pushchairs and, of course, Disabled Ramblers. We start by having coffee and refreshments at the YHA hostel at Southease Station before joining the Egret’s Way which wends its way through delightful East Sussex countryside into the village of Rodmell and we will call into Monk’s House where Virginia Woolf lived and the Bloomsbury crowd visited and partied during the earlier part of the century, then on through the pretty village to the Abergavenny Arms for a refreshing drink. It is approx 5 miles of easy rambling. Cat 2.
