19th December 2022
It is with shock and great sadness to announce that Rosie Norris died suddenly on December 19th. I have known Rosie for around 25 years since DR was set up and she was a stalwart member from the outset. She was a long time polio victim but had a very strong personality and determination to live life to the full. She loved her bright yellow Tramper which was immediately recognised by all. Rosie had strong opinions and willing to fight hard for removal of barriers and better access. Although neither she nor I have been rambling for the last few years we have kept in touch and I was chatting brightly with her on the phone shortly before her death. Rosie was quite a character and I will always remember her fondly. Tony Dickens
Rosie was a mainstay of the Disabled Ramblers from its formation. The work she did in opening up access to the countryside for all was inspirational, showing us all just what could be achieved with tenacity and conviction. Our sincere condolences to John. John & Liz Cuthbertson
Rosie, a Life Member, was a long serving and inspirational member of DR, forward thinking as well as outspoken, on many matters, especially fair play. She was always quietly assisted and supported by her husband John, and they both enhanced the pleasure of rambles until Rosie’s health became prohibitive. Our condolences go to John and their family at this very sad time. Stuart & Jan Kemp
