Arthur Knight

    13th September 2023

It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that Arthur Knight passed away last night. He had been in hospital since his stroke on 30th June.

He will be sadly missed by all in Hampshire RoamAbility and Disabled Ramblers. He was a great character and loved by all. He was always helping others, and kept us amused with the ‘personalisation’ of his scooters, as well as some of the antics that he got up to, on rambles. We have some great photos of him, and great memories.

I regard him as a founder member of the group, as he joined in 2009, 3 months after the group formed, and he was on almost every ramble since then. In later years he also helped me with most of my recces – his help was invaluable.

I will let everyone know the details of his funeral in due course. He will be sadly missed, but forever in our memories. Di Pettet

Arthur was a long standing DR member having joined in 2012. Every time I met Arthur, he made me laugh, his sense of humour and mad cap scooter designs, brought a great sense of fun to any ramble he was on. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Thinking of him and all his family and friends. Paula Brunt

A lovely generous man who always had a grin on his face and willing to do anything for anyone. He always enjoyed Hampshire Roamabilities rambles and reccys getting him out of his house and out into the countryside accompanied by friends and adventure, especially after loosing his wife. He ran his mobility scooters on a shoe string making his own adaptions and brightening them up with brightly coloured paint. Some of his adaptions were really wild but sensible at the same time, like in this video taken by Mave at Stokes Bay in Hampshire, bringing joy and fun into everyone’s lives. We all miss you enormously Arthur, RIP reunited with your wife Joy. Linda and Peter Voss
