Description: Starting from the Kielder Waterside lower car park, we will follow the Lakeside Way around Kielder Water to Freya’s Cabin. Read the story of Freya and Robin in the cabin before setting off through the forest to the south side of the peninsula. Bring along a brew for a stop at the Timelapse installation with views across the water to the Dam. We will be joined by Alex Maclennan, Recreation & Public Affairs Manager from Forestry England for a short talk in celebration of Kielder100, the 100th anniversary of Kielder Forest. We will continue around the peninsula for lunch on the Headland, then onto the remains of the old road. The best views of the day will be along the northern edge of the peninsula, reaching across the expanse of Kielder Water as far as Deadwater Mountain on the horizon. Upon returning to Freya’s cabin, we will retrace the Lakeside Way back to the Kielder Waterside facilities.
