Andy Jaynes

It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that Andy Jaynes passed away recently.

His wife, Linda, tells me that “Having been admitted into hospital for a fall and pneumonia at the beginning of November he subsequently contracted Covid-19. Despite his heroic battle he succumbed to this dreadful virus on 28 November.  Andy was very proud to be a member of the Disabled Ramblers and constantly reminded people about his affiliation to the aims and work of the group. He loved the camaraderie of the rambles that he/we went on and also thoroughly enjoyed planning, and taking the helm of, the walks that he organised on Bredon Hill”

Not only did Andy run rambles for us but also worked hard to get access improved on Bredon Hill. He loved the area so much that he climbed to the summit at least once a week on his Tramper; he must have covered more hilly miles on a Tramper than anyone else I know.  He will be sorely missed.

If you knew Andy and would like to add to his Obituary on the Members Only Page of this site, please send your words to chairman@disabledramblers.co.uk
